Summer is all about brights: Bright sunny days, bright fabrics, and exhibiting a bright beauty palette. Whether you’re rocking the neon trend or venturing into the wonderful world of florals, now is the time to play around with color.
One of my favorite ways to add pop to my everyday beauty routine is by diving into brights head-first. You don’t have to wear bright lipstick, eyeshadow and blush (as a matter-of-fact I wouldn’t recommend that you do that unless you’re channeling Mimi Bobeck, from the Drew Carey show! Remember her over-the-top hair and makeup?) Here are some ways for you to playfully rock bright beauty trends.
1. Express Yourself With Vibrant Nails
Have fun with your nails! Maybe it’s because I’ve just recently started getting into expressing myself through my nails, but I have seen some of the most awesome nail colors in warm, deliciously pigmented hues this Summer. Be bold and try that yellow nail polish you’ve been eyeing! If you work in more of a corporate environment subtly incorporate bright colors with a hot pink hue on your toes.
Not ready to dye your hair ombre pink or not into colorful clip-in extensions like Kate Moss? No worries. You don’t have to change the color of your hair to add color to your hair! Instead try colorful headbands, hair clips and other accessories.
Bright lipstick is haute, haute, haute this season! Whether you add a pop of hot pink, a dash of orange, or pretty your pout with a candy apple red lipstick or lip gloss–it’s a quick and easy way to brighten up your look. Make sure not to go overboard with your eye makeup when you go bold on the lips. I usually skip eyeshadow completely and just add eyeliner and mascara so my lips can really do all of the talking for my look. Orange lipstick is one of my go-to colors this season.
No, I don’t really want you to pinch you cheeks, but you should definitely treat them to pretty blush colors. Pink, peach and bronzy-orange colors are awesome for Summer. They give you a range of colors to help give you a sunkissed look, but they also have the power to give you a subtle, natural glow. Sephora Apricot is one of my favorites!
I’m all for the fabulousness that is powder eyeshadow, but I’ve been dabbling in cream shadow for the past couple of weeks. I can’t keep my hands off of a gold cream shadow that I found at MAC last year. (The name escapes me at the moment, sorry.) Cream shadows tend to be be highly pigmented, so a little bit goes a long way. If you tend to have oily skin you might want to base your lids with cream and dabble an eyeshadow powder on top for longevity.

Number 1 is my favorite! Nail polish is my favorite finger accessory and you’re right summer is all about the brights. That ciate polish is lovely, I’m going to have to track that one down. I also adore the ombre hair in the last image, not sure if I could pull that off, but it’s lovely to look at. Great post!
Thanks so much! I’m all about bright nails, so number 1 is my favorite, too!
I have that same exact headband and I have never worn it and I have had it since December. It just doesn’t go right with my blonde hair. Maybe if I pull my hair back but I agree with the nail polish though!
