I can’t believe it’s been a year since I launched Beauty & The Beat! (Oh, how time flies!) It like it was just yesterday when I wrote my first post, A Star is Born, introducing this blog.
I remember the very first time that I launched Beauty & The Beat back in 2007… (yes, she made her first appearance back in the day). I was taking a multimedia journalism class at UF (Go Gators!) and one of our projects was to create a blog. I immediately knew that I wanted to create a site that was dedicated to fashion and beauty, so I went over to blogger and started bogging away.
For some reason, I drifted away from the blog and spent most of my time freelancing and working my 9-5. The desire was always there, but somehow fear held me back. I always wondered “What if people don’t care about what I have to say?” or “Is it superficial to dedicate a blog to fashion and beauty?”
I quickly realized that I do have an awesome core of followers who actually do care about what I have to say and that fashion and beauty are not just about clothing and product—it’s much deeper than that. It’s about self-awareness, self-love and community. I’ve experienced all of the above and so much more through writing, connecting through social media and reading your e-mails.
This is the 1-year mark and I wouldn’t have made it without your support. I’m thankful to each and every one of B&B’s supporters and I have soooo soooo much more in store for the next year. I know that God has big plans for all of us F&B lovers; I’m glad we’re taking this journey together!
