One of Spring’s biggest fashion trends is floral prints. There’s something ultra-feminie-yet-bold about rocking a garment adorned with vibrantly-colored blooms. I wrote a fashion feature for the April issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine (It’s on newsstands, now so make sure you pick up a copy!) giving you the tea on how to rock this trend the right way.
Here are a few tips from celebrity fashion stylist Janelle Nicole, who is also the costume designer for the BET series, “Let’s Stay Together,” shared expert tips on how to look fab in florals.
Bloom size and placement matter
“Layer your with chunky wool sweaters, lace tights and vintage blazers,” she said. “Florals in classic cuts are best. Make sure the bloom size and placement complement your silhouette.”
Sometimes less is more
“Your wardrobe is the perfect place to see a few blooms. Don’t think too hard and don’t overdo it. A hint of floral goes a long way.”
Don’t be afraid to splurge
“Avoid cheap fabrics; they tend to look stiff and immature,” she said. “You want to look like a grownup breath of fresh air, not like you’re going to school picture day.”
