While scrolling through my Facebook timeline I stumbled upon an article about Billy Rae Harris.
Two months ago, Billy Rae was panhandling on the streets of Kansas City, Mo., when sarah Darling accidentally dropped her engagement ring into his cup along with some change.
He considered selling the ring, which he got appraised and was valued at $4,000, but instead he decided to keep it and return it to Sarah if he saw her again.
Well, he saw Sarah, again and was able to return her prized treasure. She and her fiancé were so overcome with gratitude for Billy Rae’s kind gesture that they started a fund hoping to raise the $4,000 that he was offered for the ring.
The story of Billy Rae’s integrity went vital and they were quickly able to raise $191,000 for him. He was able to use the money to purchase a new car and put a down payment on a house. It also earned him a spot as a guest on the TODAY show, where he was reunited with his family after more than a decade of having no contact with them.
I’m so inspired by this story! It just goes to show that integrity will get you far. He could’ve settled for the $4,000 by selling the ring, but because he waited to return it to the rightful owner he received a huge financial blessing and most importantly was reconnected with his family which is priceless.
