Now, that the newly designed site is up and running, I have so much catching up to do! One thing that definitely caught my attention over this past weekend was the debut of Beyonce’s first single from her Mrs. Carter album called Bow Down/I Been On.
My first reaction was “Say what?!” I was shocked because I wasn’t used to hearing my quiet little Bey using profanity and talking about “smackin’ tricks” and proclaiming that ” The capital B means I’m about that life.” The Houston Texas native teamed with producer Hit-Boy (the same guy behind Jay-Z and Kanye’s hit N*ggas in Paris) to create this smack-talkin’ track commanding Bey’s nay-sayers to “bow down.”
After listening to the track several more times on repeat, it’s starting to grow on me. (Mostly because of the chopped and screwed beat. I’m a proud product of the south and I love, love love my music chopped and screwed!)
Listen for yourself:
Members of the Bey Hive are giving mixed reviews about this song and fellow singer Keyshia Cole took to Twitter to share her thoughts, saying:
I don’t love the song, but I also don’t hate it…. I can’t quite gauge whether or not this makes me anticipate her new album more or less.
What do you think about Beyonce’s new single Bow Down/I Been On? Haute or Not?
Ciao Bellas,
