My Glam Interview With “Mischo Beauty” Founder Kitiya Mischo King!

 

B&B friends, I’m beyond ecstatic to share my latest glam interview with you! We’ve all heard the saying “Necessity is the mother of invention,“ and that’s exactly what drove Kitiya Mischo King to launch the innovative luxury nail lacquer line, Mischo Beauty.

Kitiya is using her chemistry and cosmetology training to give the nail polish industry a glamorously healthy facelift with her an eco-friendly 5 Free formula that adds a pop of delectable ferocity to our manis and pedis.

Here’s a ridiculously fab dose of Glamspiration from the multi-talented founder of Micsho Beauty as she dishes on Fall beauty trends, how to be a successful beauty-preneur and more!

For those who are just being introduced to Mischo Beauty, could you share what inspired you to start this company?

I’m a chemist and cosmetologist, and have always wanted to blend both worlds. When I was pregnant with my son, I was really careful with the products I was using and what I was eating, and actually didn’t polish my nails for the first six months of my pregnancy because of all the harmful toxins found in nail polish. I eventually started using polishes that were 5-free, but found the formula didn’t go on smoothly or they weren’t durable. After giving birth to my son, I decided it was time to mix my science and beauty backgrounds to create a 5-free nail polish that was durable while still being non-toxic.

Congratulations on launching the Fall 2013 Collection! What inspired the colors in the set?

Thank you! The colors were inspired by Fall trends on the runways of New York, Milan and Paris. I love Fall colors and everything Fashion Week – who doesn’t?! Backstage Beauty honors the people who work backstage making the show happen, #NYFW is for the trendsetters, and Front Row is for the lady who are always front and center. All of the names are really fun!

You have a background in chemistry and beauty, has it always been your goal to launch a beauty product line?

I’d always toyed with the idea, but it wasn’t until my pregnancy that I saw a void in the market that I realized it was time.

Why is it important for us to be aware of the ingredients that our nail polish selections contain?

It’s important for us to know what goes on and into our bodies with anything we use or consume. We take in so many harmful toxins on a daily basis from what we eat to our lotions and nail polish. It’s time for us to be more knowledgeable of the products we use and live healthier.

What’s your favorite hue from the line?

I love all the shades so much, I can’t choose one. I carefully chose the colors to make sure I was in love with every single one of them. I will tell you, the #NYFW, which is a navy has been an editor favorite. Invite Only and Backstage Beauty are also two that I can’t keep in stock!

You’re an inspiration to many women! What advice do you have for aspiring beauty-prenuers who want to start a product line?

My advice for aspiring beauty-preneurs is to first make a commitment!  Then take action and stay focused, and hang on tight for the roller coaster ride to come. It’s important to keep pushing through during the good and tough times.

What are your top three must-have Fall beauty products?

1. Clarisonic Brush- It’s hands down my favorite beauty tool. I use it with my favorite cleanser, but also with an exfoliant for even deeper cleansing. I love that it works to ensure a deep, thorough, and gentle cleansing – which is great for this time of year when we get winter skin.

2. Decleor Ultra-Moisturizing & Plumping Expert Mask – I have combination skin and alternate between clay-based masks and hydrating masks. When my skin feels dehydrated I reach for this mask and make sure to not forget my neck and décolleté. The result is always soft, smooth, moisturized skin.

3. Mischo Luxury Nail Lacquer in the Tents – The formula is 5-free, toxin-free, and cruelty-free, which are all musts for me. This shade is perfect for every day because it’s so versatile. It goes with everything!

What can we expect from Mischo Beauty in the future? Any news that you would like to share?
