A few weeks ago I added the NYX Cosmetics Wicked Dreams 24 Color Shadow Palette to my makeup collection. I was browsing the NYX Cosmetics section at a store and knew I wanted to add a bit more shimmer into my makeup routine, so I decided to give this product a try because the jewel toned colors really stood out.
Here’s an overview of the colors that I use and some of my initial thoughts on this palette.
Row 1 Swatches
This row of color contains lots of shimmery jewel tones. I use the bottom brown color a lot in my crease and sometimes dabble in the others depending on the look that I’m going for.
Row 2 Swatches
I mainly use the more pigmented bottom three colors and the very top color from this row. The other take a lot of layering and aren’t really flattering on me.
Row 3 Swatches
This is my favorite row of colors from this palette. I love the warmth of the gold and brown hues and the pigmentation of the matte blue shade. I pretty much go for this row for most of my date night looks!
Overall, I’m a fan of the darker colors. As you can see in the above swatches, a lot of the lighter colors look ashy and don’t appear flattering on darker complexions. I recommend using an eye shadow base with this palette and adding a couple of layers of shadow and finishing by blending the colors a lot. There is some product fallout with these shades so you might want to do your eye shadow first and concealer and foundation later.
For the price and pigmentation of the products, I think it’s worth adding to your beauty stash if you want to create jewel toned looks for night. You can get the NYX Wicked Dreams 24 Color Shadow Palette for $14.99 at Ulta.
