Have you felt nervous about your safety while you were out-and-about and wished there was a quick and easy way to alert your family and friends?

Well, now you can do all of that and more with React Mobile, a new new app for iPhone and Android that allows you to alert contacts via text and email anytime you feel like your safety’s in danger. The best part? It’s free!

Here’s what the founder of React Mobile Robb Monkman had to say about creating this innovative safety app:

I’ve personally been the victim of a hostage situation while I was a college student and saw the need for a product that could be used to silently and discreetly alert the authorities and your trusted contacts if you are in trouble.”

Initially this app was created with college students in mind, but there’s definitely a market for a broader audience to benefit from it such as runners, travelers, families and more. (My days as a college student are behind me, but as a young woman with an active social life it’s definitely useful.)

I put this app to the test and it was very user-friendly. Once I download the app and open it, I was sent to a screen with directions about navigating through the different features.

After I scrolled through the directions, I tested the alert service by sending a friend an alert. They called shortly after and said they received a text message that said I was worried about my safety. I’ve gotta admit it… I’m impressed.

Here are a couple of features that really stand out:

  • Follow Me: Contacts receive an email and a text message that allows them to track your location in realtime.

  • Automatic 911 prompt: The app automatically prompts users to dial 911 if an alert is activated.

The app is available in the iTunes store and on several Android platforms. A Microsoft version is currently unavailable but is said to be in the works for a launch within the next year. I’ve already added the app to my iPhone and won’t hesitate to use it if needed!

What do you think? Will you keep calm and download react mobile safety app?
