Joan Smalls is one of my favorite models. She has a certain swag about her that definitely touts her strong individuality and let’s face it…the girl is gorgeous, y’all! I love a bold lipstick choice and nothing screams bold like a black lipstick!

Joan Smalls looked all-kind-of-ahmazing at the Alvin Ailey Gala and her black lippie stole the show! Idk about you, but when I think of glamming up my look, black lipstick isn’t at the top of my list of products to wear. Hmm… looks like I need to reconsider! Not only did Joan look great with this lip shade, but she added a subtle pop of color with blue eyeliner and kept the rest of her foundation pretty simple and clean (which is the key to not looking overly done or just getting it all wrong).

This look is yet another example of why Joan is one of the hottest models to ever grace the runway–she makes rocking a black lippie look easy! Want to know recreate this look for yourself? Check out the quick and easy tutorial below!
